Christian Robert "Bob" Pfeiffer, 58, of Clarks Summit and Cocoa Beach, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 27, unexpectedly at his Clarks Summit home. Adrianne Fortese Pfeiffer, his wife of 25 years, left from this world in 2009, but never from his heart.
The son of Christian and Mary Pfeiffer, Bob was born in Peckville, and attended the number one School there, later graduating from the Scranton Preparatory School. He studied engineering at Ryder Technical Institute, and worked as an engineering technician for thirty years for various defense contractors in the Washington, D.C., and New York areas, and locally.
Bob enjoyed golf, sailing, and worldwide travel. He was an avid skier, and a long-time member of the Scranton Ski Club. He served as a ski patroller at the former Montage ski resort for 19 seasons. An accomplished guitarist and singer, Bob often entertained friends with the tunes of Jimmy Buffet, Janis Joplin or Kris Kristofferson. He was a great fan of his hometown's Andy's Pizza.
Bob was actively involved in fundraising for cancer research through the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and his brother, Bernard Pfeiffer.
Surviving him are his nephew, Bernie Pfeiffer, wife Erin, and their daughter, Leah of Collegeville; a cousin, Jean Gonzalez of Huntington Beach, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Marie Maddi of Clarks Summit; father-in-law, Philip Fortese of Titusville, Fla; sister-in-law, Mary Sue Goreschak and husband Jeffrey of Clarks Summit; and sister-in-law, Charlette Maddi of Clarks Summit. Bob was a major influence in the lives of nephew, Justin Goreschak and niece, Alexis Goreschak, both of Clarks Summit, whom he adored.
Special thanks to the Carichner family for their friendship, kindness and support to both Bob and Adrianne over the years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday March 10 in Saint Gregory's Church 401 North Abington Road, Clarks-Summit.
