John P. Norton, Jr. (Pat) 53, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep Saturday, September 20, 2014. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, John Michalak. He graduated from Binghamton University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and was employed by Lockheed Martin Federal Systems as a Software Engineer. Pat will be remembered as a loving husband of 21 years (not including the 14 years of courtship!) and caring father to his three children as well as his extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends. Pat's big heart welcomed all to his home to share in his passion for Sunday football, BBQ, and deep fried snacks. Pat generously gave of his time to those in need. Coaching little league baseball was one of his favorites, as well as children's basketball and computer emergencies. He was a devoted NY Giants and Syracuse basketball fan (for those interested, the Infamous Norton Football Pool will continue under new management!), loved camping with family and friends, and takes with him his triumphant title as Baggo champion. Pat's unique sense of humor and stories will fill our memories with unending smiles and amusement. Pat never turned down a challenge for a game of pinochle, pitch, or poker. Pat left us much too soon touching so many lives, but will remain in our hearts forever. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Saints John and Andrew's Church, 1263 Vestal Ave., Binghamton.
