Moore, Harold F. (Hal), Jr. Binghamton: Harold (Hal to his pals) 84, passed away peacefully on Friday Morning, Feb 14, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital after a brief illness.Hal was predeceased by his parents, Harold F. Moore, Sr. and Mildred Doolittle Moore, his in-laws, Paul and Cora Mourt, and his siblings Robert Moore, David Moore, and Nancy Vawter. He is survived by his wife, Sofia P. Moore, daughter Cathryn (Donald) Lynch and Granddaughter, Heather Lynch. Also surviving him are his siblings Raymond (Rosemary) Moore, Douglas (Janice) Moore, Sisters-in-law Gloria and Andrea Moore and many nieces, and nephews. A life-long resident of Binghamton, Hal was employed as a Branch Manager of the Marine Midland Bank and continued his career in finance with Singer-Link until his retirement. Hal was a member of many local clubs and fraternal and community service organizations including Baden-Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America, the Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus, Masonic Lodge 970 and the Antique Car Club of America, Iroquois Region chapter. He was an ardent fan of Broome County hockey from the beginnings of the Broome Dusters through the current Binghamton Senators. When asked "How ya doin' Hal?" his ever ready response was always "Mean and ugly as ever". A kinder and gentler person there has never been.Hal was faithful to his belief in God and lived his life as a Christian example of the teachings of Jesus Christ. He was a life-long member of the combined Broad Avenue/North, Conklin Presbyterian Church and served as Choir member, Sunday school Superintendent, Deacon, Elder, Lay Pastor and Finance Officer of the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley. "Well done, good and faithful servant".
The family will receive relatives and friends of Hals' on Friday, February 28th at the Conklin Presbyterian Church, 1175 Conklin Rd. at 11:00am with a celebration of Hal's life to follow at 12:00 noon. Entombment at Vestal Hills Memorial park at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Hal may be made to the Conklin Presbyterian Church.
