Frederick Stanley Belyea passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 with his wife Ingeborg by his side. Fred was born February 21, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to Nila and Ralph Belyea. He was a member of the Army 16th Regiment Honor Guard in Germany under General Clay. Fred and Ingeborg married on October 29, 1948, in Berlin, Germany. He attended the Electronics Institute in Detroit. In January 1954 Fred started his career with Singer Link in Binghamton where he worked on the Apollo flight simulators and finished his career in 1989 as General Manager, Army Programs. Fred was an avid sailor, enjoyed car shows where he exhibited his antique 1968 Mercedes SEL, and in his final years was the guiding force of the Link Blue Box team at the Center for Technology and Innovations. Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ingeborg Belyea and his daughters Carla Belyea, Inga Fuerst, and Kim Elliott. He is also survived by his sisters Marilyn Guyor and Phyllis LaFountain; his brother Glen Belyea; his grandchildren Jesse Larson, Leah Cady, Bethany Hall, Kristina Fuerst, Thomas Fuerst, Courtney Elliott, and Shelby Elliott; and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at the Harpursville United Methodist Church, Harpursville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred's name to the Center for Technology and Innovation, 321 Water Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
