Celia Bucher died at the age of 91. She is predeceased by her husband, John Bucher. Celia graduated from Union Endicott High School as the salutatorian of her class, missing valedictorian by only .6 of a point. She gained a position at IBM out of high school on the recommendation of her principal. Later, she worked at Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory, finishing her working career as a private secretary in the maintenance department at Singer Link. Celia was an avid sports enthusiast. She was an excellent bowler and golfer and participated in those sports well into her eighties. Celia enjoyed being with her friends and sharing activities and conversation with them. Celia, a kind and generous person, was always available to help her family. She had a creamy complexion, sparkling eyes, and a ready wit. She is survived by her only child, a daughter, Barbara Slocum; Helen Hiovich, her sister; granddaughter, Amy Donafrio; grandson, Greg Slocum; great-grandson, Eric Nezelek; niece, Lisa Macones; and nephews, Matt Mitchell, William Mitchell, and David Latta. Her family remembers her with loving kindness. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Binghamton, NY. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. Family and friends may call at the Wm. R.
